Field Service Engineer, Medical Diagnostics

Location: Catalonia, with travel across Spain

We are recruiting on behalf of a client in the medical diagnostics sector who is looking for a Field Service Engineer to support diagnostic instruments across Spain. This is a strong opportunity for someone with experience in laboratory instrumentation, IVD, medical diagnostics, biomedical equipment or similar technical systems who enjoys a mix of hands-on field service, customer support and technical coordination.

The role will focus on supporting customers in Catalonia and wider Spain, while also acting as a technical contact point for external service partners covering other regions.

The Role

  • As Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and technical support of diagnostic instruments used in laboratories, hospitals and medical centres.
  • You will work directly with customers, internal teams and external service partners to make sure instruments are installed correctly, maintained on schedule and supported quickly when technical issues arise.
  • This is a field-based role with a high level of autonomy, regular travel and responsibility for ensuring strong service quality across Spain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot medical diagnostic and laboratory instruments at customer sites in Catalonia and wider Spain
  • Carry out preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, technical interventions and software-related updates.
  • Support laboratories, hospitals and medical centres with technical questions, service issues and equipment performance.
  • Act as a technical contact point for external service partners supporting customers in other regions of Spain.
  • Provide technical guidance, training and support to customers, colleagues and service partners.

Candidate Profile

  • Technical degree or equivalent background in engineering, electronics, electromechanics, biomedical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in field service, technical service or maintenance of laboratory instrumentation, medical diagnostics equipment, IVD systems or similar technical products.
  • Experience working with hospitals, laboratories, medical centres or diagnostic customers
  • Comfortable combining hands-on technical work with service coordination.
  • Fluent Spanish required, with good English skills.
  • Catalan would be a strong advantage.
  • Comfortable with regular travel across Catalonia, Spain and occasional travel elsewhere in Europe if needed.
  • Driving licence required.
