Founding Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Location: Madrid, Spain (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office)

Salary: €45,000–€55,000 base

We’re partnering with a fast-growing technology startup that is building critical data infrastructure for a large, traditionally underserved industry.

The company has already secured commercial agreements with major enterprise customers and is entering a period of significant growth. Having proven market demand and established strong customer traction, the team is now looking to make its first full-time engineering hire to help accelerate product development and scale the platform.

This is an opportunity to join at a pivotal stage, working directly alongside an experienced founding team to shape both the product and the engineering function from the ground up.

The Role

As the first full-time engineer, you’ll take ownership of meaningful product and technical challenges across the stack.

You’ll contribute to customer-facing applications, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and data processing systems that transform complex, real-world operational data into structured, actionable intelligence.

This role offers exceptional exposure to product, technology, and business decisions, with the opportunity to influence architecture, engineering practices, and technical strategy from day one.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and shipping features across mobile, backend, and cloud infrastructure
• Developing customer-facing applications and internal tools
• Designing and maintaining backend services and APIs
• Building scalable cloud-native data pipelines
• Working with diverse data sources and transforming unstructured information into structured datasets
• Collaborating closely with customers and integration partners
• Contributing to architectural decisions and technical direction
• Helping establish engineering standards, processes, and culture as the team grows

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Approximately 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience working across multiple layers of a technology stack
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language
• Ability to independently own and deliver features
• Strong problem-solving skills and software engineering fundamentals
• Understanding of software architecture and system design principles
• Proactive communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Curiosity, adaptability, and enthusiasm for learning

Preferred

• Experience building production mobile applications
• Experience with modern cloud platforms and distributed systems
• Exposure to data-intensive products, machine learning, AI, OCR, or data pipelines
• Experience working in startup or scale-up environments
• Spanish or German language skills
• Interest in sustainability, industrial technology, data platforms, climate technology, logistics, or related sectors
