Mission Analyst

iO Associates are currently partnered with a company who are seeking a Mission Analyst to join their growing team within the space sector.

Location: Madrid, Spain

Salary: €35,000 – €45,000 (dependent on experience)

Working pattern: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Working environment: Hybrid

This organisation is at the forefront of satellite technology, combining advanced engineering with cutting-edge software to support the next generation of space missions. The successful candidate will sit at the intersection of mission analysis and software development, contributing to both internal projects and customer-facing solutions.

The role will involve:

  • Performing mission analysis activities such as trajectory design, propulsion sizing and spacecraft manoeuvre planning
  • Developing, testing and validating simulation models and software tools for flight dynamics and mission design
  • Supporting the continuous improvement and quality of an in-house mission analysis platform
  • Providing technical support and guidance to customers using company tools, working closely with senior engineers
  • Assisting with technical proposals and collaborating with engineering and operations teams to ensure mission success

Key requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years experience within the space sector, with exposure to both mission analysis and software development
  • Strong Python programming skills, including experience with scientific libraries (e.g. NumPy, SciPy) and APIs
  • Solid understanding of spacecraft systems (propulsion, ADCS, power, communications, thermal)
  • Familiarity with tools such as GMAT, STK, Orekit, FreeFlyer, or similar
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including OOP, testing methodologies and version control (GitHub)
  • Good understanding of orbital mechanics, spacecraft operations and optimisation techniques
  • Fluent professional English (written and spoken)
  • Exposure to additional programming languages such as Julia, MATLAB, or C++
  • Experience with cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, or containerisation (e.g. Docker, AWS)
  • Knowledge of spacecraft manoeuvring or mission operations
  • Previous involvement in technical proposals or familiarity with industry standards
