Tech Lead Data Engineer / Data Architect (x2) – Contract

Location: Barcelona, Spain (hybrid/onsite as required)

Rate: ~€450/day (flexible for strong candidates)

We’re looking for 2 highly experienced Tech Lead / Senior Data Engineering Architects to lead the design and delivery of an enterprise-scale data platform. You’ll drive architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and work with stakeholders across multiple time zones to deliver secure, scalable, compliant data solutions for analytics and BI.

Must-have skills

• Data Mesh (core concepts and practical implementation)
• Snowflake (architecture, performance tuning, security, cost optimisation)
• AWS (hands-on delivery experience)
• dbt (ELT framework design and best practices)
• Strong Python and advanced SQL (complex query optimisation)
• Proven data engineering / data architecture background

Key responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data platform architecture and delivery (Snowflake-led)
• Build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines using dbt and cloud-native tooling
• Establish standards (modelling, naming, governance, quality, lineage, cataloguing)
• Implement CI/CD & DataOps practices (testing, deployment, monitoring)
• Partner with global stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Ensure GDPR and related compliance requirements are met
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring across the engineering team

• Orchestration (e.g., Airflow or similar)
• Data lake / lakehouse exposure
• BI tooling (Tableau / Power BI)
• Regulated-industry experience
